Borderlands 2 Ultimate Vault Hunter Details Revealed

Gearbox have lifted the lid on what challenges the Ultimate Vault Hunter mode will offer players.

You’d best get ready.

Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode differs quite a bit from Normal Mode and True Vault Hunter Mode. Here’s how

  • Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode is unlocked for a character once they have completed the main story missions in True Vault Hunter Mode and reached level 50.
  • Unlike other playthroughs, Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode can be replayed multiple times with players able to reset their overall mission progress at any time from the Main Menu.
  • No more tutorial missions — characters in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode begin in Southern Shelf with the “Cleaning Up the Berg” mission.
  • While playing in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, enemies and bosses will scale according to the player’s current level or, if playing with others, the highest-level player in that party.
  • Gameplay changes in UVHM:
    • Enemy health generally increased 4x.
    • Enemies now have a moderate amount of health regeneration.
    • Increased duration of slag damage multiplier effect.
    • Upped the damage that slagged enemies take from 2x to 3x.
    • Weapon swap speed increased to better facilitate slag use.
    • Enemies now more likely to drop ammo.
    • Loot Midgets are now “Legendary Loot Midgets” that can drop Legendary and other top-tier gear.

One word. Ouch!

  1. looks like slag is gonna be needed in this playthrough…TIME TO FARM FOR THE SLAGGER

  2. Awful. Weapons aren’t scaled to match the new mob difficulty.

    Looelt drop rate is laughable.
As a player who has no internet this is a huge slap in the face. I can’t see how I’ll be able to complete the play through solo, let alone beat anything worth fighting.

At this point, solo players, might as well pick up a different game. Or a book.

    Outstandingly disappointed.

  3. this mode basically takes all the stuff that was fucked up about the game and makes it 10x worse… you die in ONE bullet instead of like 3… you run out of ammo killing 1 fucking goliath badass… and you cant solo it… period.

  4. Thaaank you. I thought I was the only one having issues TRYING (Keyword, TRYING) to get through this on Solo. A level 50 Norfleet with 220k x3 damage, and it takes 27 rockets to kill Assassin Oney?

Thanks, Gearbox. I know very few people who play this game on the PC, you’ve just fucked me. Thanks.

  5. Sounds like you all are a bunch of fucking pussies who don’t know what HARDMODE is (I guess you’ve never played hard or nightmare modes on diablo, wow raids, doom, or the hundreds of other games out there that offer more depth and challenge, as well as max / endgame loot) – this isn’t a mode for casual gamers unless you’re in a group of 3+ – this is a mode made for the hardcore players to solo or duo together. Grab your fucking balls, you god damn skeet weasels; next, grab your guns and complete the god damned mission. (If you need ‘goals’, think about loot farming the treasure room over and over at lvl 61.)
