Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate shows off new features for offline play

Team NINJA today released new information for Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate that highlights new offline gameplay modes and character customization features. A plethora of costumes include new selections for each and every character and specialized “Pop Idol”  sets. Favourite battle and story scenes now come to life with highly customizable character animations, and gameplay additions include Team Fight mode, the return of Survival mode items, improved training modes, plus nearly 1000 unlockable titles. Customers who pre-order the game at GameStop and Amazon will each receive exclusive costume packs for select female fighters. There has been new gameplay footage and screenshots released showcasing these new additions.

A Dead or Alive game is not complete without its in-depth modes to help improve combat skills. In Team Fight mode, players put together a team and compete against another player or the COM, take down all the characters on the opposing team. In order to take the advantage, and ultimately win, characters must be selected strategically balancing skill sets, speed and styles. Improved further are the Training Modes, which add on new lessons for Tutorial Mode, and Combo Challenge mode adds the ability to practice moves and strategies including Power Launchers and tag combos. Survival mode includes the return of items that are dropped with a ground attack or when an opponent is defeated. Each of the nine items has various special benefits, for example, a watermelon that will fully restore health if needed, or reward bonus points. The move list from Dead or Alive Plus has been expanded in Dead or Alive Ultimate with even more detailed information.  Unlocking new titles can be achieved by battling in different modes and clearing new missions and challenges. There are now nearly 1000 new titles available with a huge library for each character.

In addition to a new outfit, hairstyle and animation for each of the female characters, the three “Pop Idol” sets showcase sisters Ayane and Kasumi in classic “JPOP” style; a schoolgirl inspired set for Hitomi, Kokoro, Leifang and Mila; and a seductive “bad girl” set for Helena, Lisa, Momiji, Rachel, Sarah and Tina. Costumes that were obtained in the original Dead or Alive 5 can also be transferred over to the new game, adding to the already hugely immense selection.

Included is also a “Movies” mode in which players can personalise their experience fully in incredible detail, including all new hairstyles, costume designs and entrance and victory animations.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is due to be released on the 3rd of September 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
