Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Teaser Trailer and Site

So a Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon teaser trailer and website have both been revealed today (April 1st)  and from what both the trailer and website indicate, Far Cry 3 is headed back to 80’s! The website, which in itself is a glorious throwback to the .gif plastered web-pages of the 90’s, pitches the possible expansion to Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 as a movie, featuring interviews with the director, a whole bunch of fake accolades from various film festivals, links to two Daft-Punk tracks (possible soundtrack?) and a story section which describes the film as follows.

The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going

There’s even a store featuring official merchandise ranging from banana carriers to chainsaws, although I doubt if you can expect them to be completing your orders anytime soon.

As for the trailer, well take a look for yourself.

Not much to take from it except a nice retro revamp to the Ubisoft logo and the logo to film itself. However, more eagle eyed viewers may have spotted what could be a single frame of game play footage in the final frame of the trailer.

Understandably April 1st is a rather dubious day to consider any announcement genuine and we must therefore take the announcement of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon with a pinch of salt. Thankfully, however, there is reason to believe that this is more than a simple April fool’s joke. Not only have images of box art and an achievements list leaked online but the game has also received a rating from the Australian board of games classification.

What ever this is, I think it’s safe to say it’s more than just a simple April Fools.
