The Last of Us completes its Season Pass with Grounded on May 6

The final piece of The Last of Us Season Pass puzzle releases tomorrow.

Grounded will add four new maps to the game’s multiplayer mode, as well as new weapons and an all-new ‘Grounded’ difficulty set for the main game.

In addition to all of that, there will also be eight new multiplayer survival skills.

The new maps in multiplayer are heavily inspired by the game’s campaign and feel appropriate in the ravaged world Joel and Ellie have been forced to explore.

Water Tower basks in the glory of the sun, its environment red and hued, with trees spread out all around. By far the most elegant of the four maps, even with the abandoned vehicles and cargo deposits. Players can use cars for cover, or pop out of shop-windows to get in pot-shots.

Next up is the Wintery feel of Coal Mine. This abandoned mine is now coated in snow, pipes piled up on one another, desolate warehouses, burnt out trucks and lorries. This is an open map with several cover spots and is sure to make for some dramatic gameplay.

Wharf is all rusted and rotten. It’s cluttered and all about sudden, close-quarter movement. Mostly on the ground action, save for a few high-rise spots, you’ll need to be on your toes at all times on this one.

Finally, Capitol. A once thriving city now overrun with nature. Trees spiralling out of the ground and breaking apart the foundations of office blocks. Moss creeping along the sides of buildings and greenery at every turn. With a mix of open and enclosed, this is a fascinating battleground, sure to be a big favourite among gamers.

New guns are available, such as the Launcher, a double-barrelled shotgun, an auto-weapon Specter, and hand-pistol, Enforcer. There are also new skills such as Bomb Expert, and improved Agility that allows you to scale high-up crates and boxes and sneak up on unsuspecting enemies.

Naughty Dog have summed it all up with a bad-ass trailer, which you can conveniently view right here…
