PlayStation Vita Re-Design Coming October 10th

Possibly the most notable piece of news to come from the brutally early (7am!) Sony press conference was the news of a playstation Vita redesign coming to the shores of the far east October the 10th. The redesign will come in six new beautiful colour schemes.

The re-design titled the ‘PCH-2000’ will be a full 20% thinner and 50% lighter than the current Vita and features an extended battery life of a full hour! Good news for those extended Monster Hunter sessions.

The Vita will come with onboard 1gb memory, although there are also reports of a 64gb card being released alongside the re-design.

At the moment, there’s no confirmed release date or price for either the US or Europe but no doubt we’ll be seeing these pretty pastel colored family friendly Vitas coming to a shores in the not too distant future. Surely before the release of Playstation 4.

Are these Vita re-designs an attempt from Sony to break into Nintendo’s handheld monopoly by appealing to a younger, more family focused audience?
