THQ auction results are in. Gearbox and Nordic strike big

All of THQ’s remaining properties have now been snapped up at auction. The results are surprising…

We know Koch Media struck big with Saints Row and Metro. We also know 2K took the WWE license and Ubisoft got South Park: Stick of Truth. However, there was still a lot of IP left to claim from the THQ camp. All of that has now been snapped up.

The big winners are Nordic Games who have not only secured Red Faction, they also own the extremely desirable Darksiders property and basically everything else from the THQ vault. Meanwhile, Gearbox have snapped up Homeworld and are already making plans to re-release the titles digitally for all major platforms. Finally, 505 Games have secured Drawn to Life.

Looking at that stable of IP, it’s still hard to believe THQ have gone under. So much potential for quality there.

Below are the winning bids. Big thanks to Joystiq for compiling this…

Less reported on, but it’s worth noting that Nordic own distribution rights to lovely Double Fine titles, Costume Quest and Stacking. They’ve also got their paws on Nexuiz, Rocket Riot and Truth or Lies. What they’ll do with these titles (if anything) remains to be seen.

One thing we do know for sure, THQ is dead and buried and all of their games are now with someone else. Like it or not, the future of those franchises lies in those hands. What happens next is up to them…
