Injustice Is Using DLC As a Means Of Compatibility

Injustice is going to break the meta and take a different approach to fixing compatibility issues.

In an interview with Gameinformer , studio boss Ed Boon was detailing how having a catalogue of 100 in-game character costumes was a huge advantage. By having such a huge variation of costumes the team have more room for free DLC in the form of character skins than normal developers.  However, the way in which this free DLC is going to be released is quite ingenious.

When new characters such as Lobo are released there will be some compatibility issues within the game, to fix this the team are going to release free content in the form of skins. By releasing these skins players will be able to use Lobo against players who did not previously own the character. If the skins were not released in this manner, Lobo would not be playable unless both players purchased the content.

This is an ingenious way for the team to not only fix compatibility issues, but to provide the community with free DLC for a newly released character.
