All you need to know about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition and Pre-Order DLC

It may have slipped your notice but there’s a Final Fantasy game out this week.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was an oft-forgotten Gamecube classic that let you use your Gameboy Advance as a controller.

It also encouraged you to bring around friends to play the game with you in local co-op. With their GBAs, of course.

Fortunately, the Remastered Edition doesn’t need a GBA this time, as it even includes online multiplayer and cross-platform. Unfortunately, there’s no local multiplayer at all as it’s now all done over the net. Shame.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles has you leaving your caravan to venture to the outside world to collect myrrh, a liquid which cleanses the crystal protecting the world.

The remastered edition features higher difficulty, new character voices, a re-recorded theme song, new weapons and enemies.

Pre-Order Incentive / Lite

Releasing on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles comes out August 27th, and there is a pre-order incentive for PS4 players.

For PS4 owners, if you pre-order the game digitally, you get a free bonus theme. Sadly, no other platform offers pre-order incentives.

There’s also a ‘Lite Version’ of the game which is essentially a Trial that gives you access to the first three dungeons. However, if you join in with a player who owns the full game you can play together in up to 13 dungeons!

Memory Crystal DLC

Memory Crystals will work as the game’s DLC, enabling you to play as characters from previous Crystal Chronicles games. Confirmed characters include Yuri and Chelinka from Ring of Fates, King Leo and Chancellor Chime from My Life as a King, Sherlotta from Echoes of Time, Mira and Bel Dat from My Life as a Dark Lord, and Layle from The Crystal Bearers.

You can buy them all as part of a Memory Crystal Set or individually.

Other DLC will include a Moogle Weapon set, which includes Mogcalibur, Mogungnir, Kupo-Kupo Hammer, and Kupo-Kupo Racket. There’s also an Relic Weapon Pack with weapons Apocalypse, Catastrophe, Executor and Punishment.

If you prefer, there’s a Weapons Special Combo Set which combines both together.

Finally, you can purchase an Enchanted Wallet which lets you pick up slightly more gil. There’s also a Sapphire Earring which slightly increases your recovery speed. Both can be equipped by all tribes.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles releases on PS4, Switch, and Mobile Devices on August 27th and costs £24.99.
