Bioshock Infinite patch 6 update arrives ahead of DLC launch

Bioshock Infinite patch 6 has quietly released on Steam, this evening. The new update serves one purpose and fuels speculation that the first piece of Bioshock Infinite DLC is due imminently.

Ken Levine has been teasing his Twitter followers the past few days, telling them to expect something big this Tuesday. We fully expect the new content to be detailed then, but it would also appear that the DLC will launch shortly after the reveal from Irrational Games.

DLC is highly anticipated as the game launched with a Season Pass back in March. Since then, there’s been radio silence. However, the fact that an update is releasing so suddenly, even ahead of the DLC reveal, is a pretty sure sign that we’ll get something sooner than expected.

Patch 6 is a very simple one.

Here’s the changelog…

  • Added features necessary to support upcoming DLC.
  • Fix for issue where the navigation assist / nav aid arrow was not showing the path of jumping from the deck of the barge to the sky-line above when viewing it from the barge after the town lottery.

What those features are is anyone’s guess, but the news is good news and we expect all the excitement to reach fever pitch in just a few hours.

Just don’t be surprised if, this time next week, we have a review of Bioshock Infinite’s first DLC on Expansive.

All Bioshock Infinite DLC is expected by March 2014 according to the terms of the Season Pass.
