Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Expansion announced for Summer 2024, Xbox Series X|S version also coming next year

Huge announcements have been made at the Final Fantasy Fan Fest, headlined by news of the latest expansion.

Following the most recent expansion – Endwalker – Square and Yoshi-P have confirmed the next adventure is entitled Dawntrail, and it will launch Summer 2024.

Dawntrail will represent an all-new story for Final Fantasy XIV, set to continue its adventures for many years to come.

A new island will open up – Tural – and within it an all-new capital city – Tuliyollal.

Dawntrail includes some familiar allied tribes – the Pelupelu – and will also bring with it an increased level cap to 100, multiple new jobs, new dungeons, enemies, gear, recipes, raids and PVP options.

What’s more, patch 7.0 will add a massive graphical update to the game and an increase of objects in a particular area. This also extends to housing furnishings.

6.5 is next up, though, and among other things it will see the free trial of the game extended, adding in Stormblood content, taking you up to the start of the excellent Shadowbringers.

The other big story is the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy XIV finally has a release date. Skipping Xbox One, this verison will have faster loading, 4K Support on Xbox Series X and an Open Beta scheduled for Patch 6.5.

The Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy XIV launches Spring 2024, meaning Dawntrail will launch on Xbox at the same time as PlayStation when it hits Summer 2024.
