NieR Replicant will revisit the original game in new and interesting ways

The moment many have been hoping for since the excellent NieR: Automata released is here, we’re getting an updated version of the original game.

It’s important to highlight ‘updated version’ as Square Enix themselves have said this isn’t a ‘remake’ nor a ‘remaster’.

Announced during the 10th-anniversary series livestream, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, assumedly meaning we’ll be seeing it before the launch of next gen consoles.

It’s also important to note that this will be an updated version of the original Japanese release – Nier: Replicant, and not the version received in the West, Nier: Gestalt.

Developed by Toylogic and published by Square Enix, not much is known about the updated version except that it will have newly recorded voiceovers, lots of new additions, new characters, and potentially new endings.

The background music has also been re-recorded for the release.

NieR: Replicant is being designed to appease new fans, but also to be enjoyable for those who played the original game.

We don’t have a release date yet, but the aim is to release this year, and one would imagine sometime before November. Or whenever those new consoles decide to show.
