Pokémon Go adds lots of Alolan Shinies to game to celebrate third birthday

Can you believe Pokemon Go is three years old tomorrow?

I remember the first two weeks of the game launching. You’d be hard pressed to argue that Niantic solved World peace for a while with everyone gleefully pointing out Pikachus and Charmanders on their nearby. It was beautiful.

The game has come a long way since then with raids, PVP, Gifting and Lucky Friends, but tomorrow Niantic are going all in with something special, despite the launch of their other big game – Wizards Unite – just last week.

Funny how after just 7 days, Pokemon has become the talk of the town again, as it introduces not one, not two, but EIGHT new Shinies into the game. That’s right, from tomorrow, Alolan Rattata, Sandshrew, Vulpix, Diglett, Meowth, Geodude, Grimer, and Exeggutor will be in the game.

In addition, new avatar items for the team leaders will be available for you to purchase, and Party Hat Pikachu will start photobombing you while taking Snapshots. Meanwhile, Party Hat Pichus will be in 7km eggs.

Furthermore, there’s new Special Research for those who are level 10 and above, as well as bonuses for taking raid bosses down faster, and the ability to trade Pokemon with 1/4 less Stardust.

It’s not giving up its crown without a fight, Wizards Unite.
