Project Gotham Racing 4 and the case of the missing DLC.

Twas a dark and stormy night in September 2012. 4 and a half years after popping up on XBox Live, the Free and Premium Challenge packs for Project Gotham Racing 4 disappeared… for good!

The packs added a host of goodies to the 2007 racer with eight new cars, three new bikes and a couple of new game modes ‘Tourist Mode’ and ‘Cat and Mouse’ (thank you wikipedia).

A Microsoft spokesman (possibly met in a darkened multi-story car park somewhere) was heard to whisper “At this time, we have no plans to relist this content on Xbox LIVE Marketplace but our goal remains to give our community new games, new entertainment, new experiences and new ways to connect with friends on Xbox LIVE.”

Only those lucky few with the packs still installed on their hard drives can sample the DLC goodness; for the rest of us they are just a beautiful memory like the cash we spent paying for them it seems.

What can you take away from this? Project Gotham Racing 4 has mysteriously lost DLC packs from the Xbox Live Marketplace, no one knows where they’ve gone, but we definitely know they’re not coming back…
