Spryo Reignited Trilogy needs Day One Update to play all content on disc

Spyro The Dragon: Reignited Trilogy will now have all three games on one disc, though there is a rather large caveat.

While Spyro 1 in its entirety can be played directly from the disc, only parts of Spyro 2 and 3 are accessible without a Day One Update.

In a recent statement to IGN, following a report from Achievement Hunter, Toys for Bob and Activision have stated

“The trilogy will ship with content from each of the three games, including the entire first game and a subset of levels from games 2 and 3. In order for the full Reignited Trilogy offerings, a day one update is required.”

What this means is that only some full levels from Spyro: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon can be played directly from the disc if your console isn’t connected to the internet. Eventually, in order to get the full experience out of your physical copy, you will have to go online to get the rest.

It’s certainly an improved situation from earlier where the boxed media would provide download codes for Spyro 2 and 3, but it’s perhaps not the solution everyone has been looking for.

The good news is that Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is shaping up to be absolutely incredible and you can see why in our extensive preview from earlier this year.
