Streetfighter V was originally set to have six seasons of DLC

In a new article from Game Informer, we’ve learned a ton about Streetfighter franchise, including more recent history.

In the article we learned about the change of direction for the upcoming Street Fighter 6 but also what the original plan was for Street Fighter V.

According to Street Fighter 6 Director, Takayuki Nakayama, he said that Street Fighter V was set to have 6 seasons of DLC but this was eventually cut back to 5.

In fact, it seems quite fortituous that the game got 5 seasons of content considering how it was initially received, but due to fan demand and the positive reception of Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, plans stayed in flux.

We didn’t learn which new characters would be added to the game in a potential sixth season, and it’s possible that whatever plans Capcom had will end up in Street Fighter 6, but the information is nonetheless.

We’d recommend reading the whole thing as there’s some fantastic insight into the history of the franchise, how it came from the arcades and the importance it has to Capcom. We’re all really excited for Street Fighter 6 and to see what Capcom have for us next.
