All You Need To Know About Marvel’s Midnight Suns: Editions, DLC, Content and More

Marvel meets strategy from the developers of XCOM sounds like a dream matchup if I’ve ever heard one.

It’s one of the biggest games still to release this year and we absolutely cannot wait to put our teams together.

There’s quite a lot of content to talk about before we get to that point, though, so here’s everything we know so far.

Formats

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is releasing on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC initially. Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch versions will follow.

Engine

The game is running on Unreal Engine 4

Release Date

The game officially launches on December 2.

Who is Developing/Publishing?

The Developer is Firaxis Games, working in collaboration with Marvel Games and Virtuous. Firaxis are, of course, best known for XCOM and Civilization. 2K are the publisher.

Is this based on the Midnight Sons comic?

Yes! But it’s also based on a wider slate of Marvel properties, including Avengers and X-Men. Players initially assume the role of a custom superhero with 40 different power options but you can team up with all your favourite heroes and tap into their abilities as well.

What’s it about?

Lilith has awoken from her slumber and is out causing havoc again. After an encounter with some of the Avengers, Lilith uses her abilities to begin brainwashing superheroes to do her bidding and enhance them as her legion of ‘The Fallen’. It’s up to you to stop Lilith and remind heroes of their true purpose and potential.

How does it work?

At the beginning of every mission, you can take three heroes into your team alongside your character ‘The Hunter’. Combat is turn-based as you’ve come to expect from other Firaxis games, and you can manage any upgrades between missions at ‘The Abbey’. This also lets you chat to other characters and build relationships with them.

Who’s in it?

Who isn’t, more like! We don’t know everyone yet, but so far it’s confirmed you can team up with Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider, The Hulk, Scarlett Witch and more.

We even know who the DLC characters are at this point.

What DLC is coming up?

Glad you asked. There’s four DLC packs coming post launch, each led by a different hero. The DLC packs will center around Deadpool, Morbius, Venom, and Storm.

There’s also launch content available, including various tiers of Premium Packs which offer skins for existing characters, and a Doctor Strange Defenders Skin Pre-Order bonus. Here’s the full list of all 23 skins you can get at launch, as long as you’re willing to pick up the Legendary Edition.

Michael Jai White is also in as Blade and Lyrica Okano is reprising her role from the TV Show, Runaways, as Nico Minoru.
