Of all the weapons in Final Fantasy, the Buster Sword has to be one of the most iconic.

Wielded by Zack in Crisis Core, and of course Cloud in Final Fantasy VII, the sword is an absolute representation of the franchise.

So the work Simon O’Rourke has done to recreate it as a Christmas tree to celebrate this all-important launch makes a ton of sense.

The tree sculptor spent 30 hours recreating a Buster Sword and converting it into a festive centerpiece. The tree was sourced ethically by the carver who has well known sustainability practices. This has also been offset by Square Enix.

As the video above shows, Simon cut through the tree layers using various sizes and shapes of chainsaw and then used other tools to bring out the unique nuances and intricacies of the Sword. Branches have also been lit with LED lights.

The results are stunning and a fitting celebration of Final Fantasy.
