Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa reprises Shang Tsung for Mortal Kombat 11 in first announced DLC

Mortal Kombat 11 releases next month but we already know who has the honor of being the first DLC character.

Legendary adversary Shang Tsung will skip the base game and be made available as downloadable content. This follows the reveal of Shao Khan being added as a pre-order bonus.

The move has certainly surprised some people, though, as many expected Tsung to be included in the base roster. Tsung will have a role to play in the game, though, as he will guide people through the game’s Krypt mode.

But to make things interesting, Shang Tsung will be played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, the actor who portrayed the malicious warlock in the 1995 film. With Ronda Rousey also announced as Sonya Blade, this is a really cool homage. Especially for a guy who knows how to throw a feast.

While we don’t know what Tsung’s moveset will be like, we do know that Noob Saibot is joining the base roster. Saibot’s still got his portal pounding, rib-cracking, dual attacking moveset in the game.

He’s also got one of the most savage fatalities we’ve seen yet.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version hitting May 10th.
