DOOM Eternal DLC will not be composed by Mick Gordon

Mick Gordon, Composer on DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal will not return to do the DLC.

Confirmed in a Reddit post by Marty Stratton, Executive Producer on DOOM Eternal, he’s said he ‘won’t be working with Mick on the DLC we currently have in production’.

From this, it appears Bethesda, iD, and Gordon have parted ways indefinitely, as Marty finds the ‘direct and personal attacks on (the) lead audio designer’ unacceptable.

The thread is a must-read as it goes into detail as to why this split has happened, but in a nut shell, Mr Gordon appears to have missed several key deadlines set by iD Software and not produced work agreed upon.

This all started when Gordon took to Twitter to say he was doubtful he would work with iD and Bethesda again.

He also responded to several complaints from people about variances between the soundtracks on DOOM 2016 and Eternal, saying he wouldn’t have mixed those.

The composer continued to distance himself from the soundtrack album as negative criticism began to fall.

This prompted Marty to produce the Reddit thread to clarify the circumstances. And let’s just say bridges have probably been burned for good.

Either way, a new composer will handle all future content for DOOM Eternal and, presumably, future games from iD Software as well.
