After what feels like years of waiting, Final Fantasy Tactics is getting an enhanced edition on modern platforms.
Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles, was just confirmed at Sony’s State of Play but will be coming to Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PS5, PS4, Xbox and Steam, verified on Steam Deck.
And if Ivalice sounds familiar, it should. As this is the setting to the iconic Final Fantasy XII.
Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles updates the existing script for FFT and also includes full voice acting, including Ben Starr who played the incomparable Clive Rosfield in FF16! But also the voice actors for both Cloud and Aerith in the Final Fantasy VII Remakes!
Additionally, of course, the graphics have been much improved and the game is full of quality of life updates, with a ‘revamped UI’ auto save and ‘new difficulties’.
As if that’s not enough, both enhanced and classic versions of the game will be included, with the classic serving as a ‘nostalgic recreation of the game’ that originally released in 1997. That even includes the much-loved ‘War of the Lions translation’. And to really make it an authentic experience, the original developers – Kazutoyo Maehiro, Hiroshi Minagawa and Yasumi Matsuno will return to work on the game.
Inspiring great games like Wargroove, Advance Wars, Tactics Ogre, and even games like Fire Emblem and Divinity, Final Fantasy Tactics was way ahead of its time with its focused on turn-based combat and character progression.
And this enhanced edition includes new jobs and customisable abilities, as well as enhanced gameplay possibilities for the latest hardware. It sounds awesome.
Best of all, it’s launching really soon! Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles launches on September 30.
