It’s what it says in the title – we have our hands on Nintendo Switch 2!
Thanks to our partners and good folks at Nintendo, we are already working with the hardware and will have a ton of coverage for you in the days and weeks ahead!
To give you an overview of our current working plans, here’s some of what you can expect from us. But if you want to hear about something specific or anything else, leave us a comment below…
A full overview of Nintendo Switch 2
We’ll go through all of its features and functionality, putting the system through its paces with a variety of games, as well as assessing performance against Switch 1 and other platforms. This includes things like data transfer, how useful an SD card will be for game storage, virtual game cards and more. This will likely be a continuous source of articles and information as the system evolves through updates and its software library increases.
Alongside a base unit and a copy of Mario Kart World, we also got access to the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera and the new Switch 2 Pro Controller, so we’ll be testing both of these to tell you a bit more about how they work with the console and its games.
A full review of Mario Kart World
We’ll get to this as soon as possible but we also want to make sure we test it thoroughly, seeing the game’s lengths and breadths, and really make good use of the multiplayer functionality – both locally and across Nintendo Switch Online. Expect the usual grades, pros and cons though when this goes out! With the game’s potential for vast open world environments as well, we will likely be covering this with further post launch editorial.
Welcome Tour
We know this has been a hot topic of conversation, but we’ll also be overviewing Welcome Tour, putting it through its paces and seeing what it offers and whether it’s the introduction to the hardware that’s needed!
Zelda Switch 2 Upgrades
We’ll also be checking out both Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrades and really spending some time with both games to see just how much Switch 2 is adding to them. Are these really like all new games all over again? Speaking of Nintendo Online…
Gamecube and wider Classics range
We’ll be going through the Gamecube Classics range to see how these perform – docked and handheld – and really giving each game a proper playthrough, alongside all the other consoles to see just how much Switch 2 is benefiting those experiences. This is one of the more exciting editions out of the box, for us!
Patched Switch 1 games
We’ll be playing as many of the updated Switch 1 games as we can and giving you some comparisons and analysis on the performance. We think this will be quite interesting and are excited to see the comparisons.
General Video
We’re hoping to really ignite our YT channel again with lots of Switch 2 coverage so you can see the games running for yourselves and make your own judgment on how things are looking.
Long term support
We’re not just focused on launch, we have big long term plans for Switch 2, including continued editorial, comparison videos, real deep dives into Nintendo’s plans and more thorough looks at some of the systems’ new functionality like the JoyCon 2 mouse and, of course, Game Share and Game Chat!
Third Party Support
And finally, we’ll be covering as many third party titles as we can. Games like Deltarune, Split Fiction, Rune Factory, Nobunaga’s Ambition and more are on the docket, but we’ll keep you posted on other titles we may have an opportunity to cover!
If you’re also a developer working on a game for Switch 2 looking for coverage, be sure to get in touch!
Happy launch day everyone! Let us know whether you grabbed a Switch 2 and which games you’re picking up!
