Final Fantasy XIV is coming to PlayStation 5, Open Beta begins April 13

Final Fantasy XIV is getting another upgrade as Square Enix announce a PlayStation 5 version is imminent.

Originally releasing on PS3, then gaining a huge fanbase on PS4, now Final Fantasy XIV will continue its loyalty to Sony ahead of its fourth expansion with a PS5 launch.

Beginning with an Open Beta on April 13, this version will offer significant upgrades over the PS4 addition, including improved loading times.

FFXIV will also have 4K Resolution Support, improved Frame Rate, and more. Those who own the game on PS4 may download and play the PS5 upgrade at no extra cost, beginning April 13.

New players will be able to try out Final Fantasy XIV on PS5 through its massive Free Trial at the same time.

You can already play Final Fantasy XIV through backwards compatibility on PS5 but we’re really excited to see what Square Enix have in store for us and how they will take full advantage of the current-gen capabilities.

Still no word about that promised Xbox version, though.

Endwalker, the fourth expansion for Final Fantasy XIV will release Fall 2021 on PC, Mac, PS4, and now PS5.
