Gaming Rumour Roundup (October 9, 2022): New Crash Bandicoot game, Raven working on COD, a new Silent Hill Movie and more

That time of the week again already? It seems so.

The rumour mill keeps on churning – for better or worse – and there’s a few stories floating around out there that have piqued our interest.

Whether they’re true or not remains to be seen but let’s dive right in and see what we’ve got.

Please bare in mind none of the information you see below has been confirmed publically by respective publishers / developers and at this time should not be treated as factual.

This weeks top rumours

  • There may be a new Crash Bandicoot game on the way and it could be announced at The Game Awards. A heavily rumoured ‘Wumpa League’ game has supposedly been in development for a while and influencers just recently got a package of ‘Wumpa Pizza’ with Crash goodies inside. This box also told the influencers that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time was releasing on Steam on October 18 and gave a hint at a new reveal coming in just a few short weeks. Hmmm….
  •  In more Death Stranding 2 news, it seems things are ramping up. Hideo Kojima himself has confirmed he’s working with Elle Fanning on a new project. Then a producer at Kojima Productions went one step further by quote-tweeting it saying #DeathStranding and #WhereAmI – Seems like another Game Awards reveal, perhaps?
  • Raven Software might be working on another Call of Duty campaign. With Infinity Ward working on this years Modern Warfare II and Treyarch next in line, there’s a suggestion Raven Software will pick up the baton after that with them hiring a Lead Campaign Animator “with experience in FPS and extensive knowledge about Call of Duty” Very interesting…
  • It’s about time we had some more Silent Hill rumours, don’t you agree? Well, the fire keeps getting stoked as the director of the original film has now come out and said he’s not only working on a new film with Konami but that the company have ‘several games in development’ with ‘several teams working on it’. At this point, you have to think it’s a matter of time, right?
  • Finally, to follow up that Horizon: Forbidden West DLC rumour last week, several sites are now suggesting that Sony are working on a remake to Horizon: Zero Dawn, similar in vein to The Last of Us Remake, on PS5 and PC. It has also been claimed that a multiplayer spinoff is in the works which, again, sounds very similar to what Naughty Dog are doing with TLOU. There definitely seems to be a recurring theme here. If it’s true, of course. But with both games getting shows with HBO and Netflix respectively, seems like as good a time as any to re-introduce them to audiences.

Any big rumours we missed? Something you’re keeping an eye on? Sound out below in the comments section. We’ll be revisiting the above in a few months to see if they got things right!
