Pokemon GO finally adds Shiny Pidgey and Rattata to celebrate Pokemon Day, Smeargle now live in game

To coincide with the full rollout of GO Snapshot, Smeargle can now photobomb your photos and be added to your Pokedex.

Smeargle is the last Pokemon to release for Johto Region, bringing the total to 100. It will appear when you’re snapping pictures of your Pokemon, then adopt the move set of the Pokemon it photobombs.

What’s more, Niantic continue their crazy schedule of events by announcing that Shiny Pidgies and Rattatas are being added into the game and can be encountered in the wild.

To celebrate Pokemon Day, you can encounter Kanto region Pokemon more commonly in the wild. They are also available to challenge in raids.

Niantic are even dressing up Eevee and Pikachu with flower crowns in commemoration of the special day and they can be found in Special Field Research or in the Wild.

This could be a very special week as far as Pokemon is concerned, with speculation the Switch Gen 8 game could also get some sort of reveal. We still don’t have a title for the game which is expected to launch later this year.

We also found out that Treecko will be the next Community Day on March 23, starting at the later time of 3pm to 6pm in every region. Check out this fantastic guide from KitsuneKurisu to see exactly what you need to look out for and how the shiny forms will appear.
