Street Fighter 6 has been announced but we don’t know what platforms it’s on yet

Capcom’s massive countdown has ended and they revealed Street Fighter 6 early this morning.

It had been long anticipated with several insiders suggesting it was coming, though there was some hope Capcom might show off the promised Village DLC or the heavily rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake.

We didn’t find out a lot, other than Ryu has a beard now and is wearing sandals. We also got a good look at the graphics and they look absolutely jaw-dropping with vein pumping and toe flexing as prominent as anything else.

Droplets of sweat pour down Ryu’s back as he gets ready for battle and on the other side of him is Luke Sullivan, a huge privilege for a character just introduced in Street Fighter V as its final fighter. Capcom have indicated his character will play a major role in Street Fighter 6.

Before we get to see any gameplay, the teaser trailer cuts to a new logo and we’re promised more details will be revealed this summer.

Beyond that, we know nothing. No platforms, no release date, and no idea who the other fighters will be. There is increased speculation, however, that Street Fighter 6 will be exclusive to PS5 just as Street Fighter 5 was exclusive to PS4.

Street Fighter 5 had a ton of DLC post launch and we don’t doubt Street Fighter 6 will feature a bunch more.

Capcom also announced a 35th Anniversary ‘Capcom Fighting Collection’ coming June 24th and it features a series of classics, including

  • Darkstalkers
  • Night Warriors
  • Vampire Savior
  • Vampire Hunter 2
  • Vampire Savior 2
  • Red Earth / War-Zard
  • Cyberbots
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
  • Hyper Street Fighter II
  • Super Gem Fighter MiniMix

This will be the first time Red Earth has ever materialised on home consoles.

More details on Street Fighter 6 will likely appear around Summer Games Fest, but until then, I guess we’ll be watching this teaser hundreds of times to try and glean the slightest of secrets. The logo certainly isn’t giving much away.
