Subnautica 2 is the most wishlisted upcoming game on Steam and has now swam past the 5 million mark.

This is a massive achievement for the game from Unknown Worlds, and to sort of celebrate the team have confirmed you can now pre-purchase and pre-load the game ahead of its release on May 14.

In addition a ‘First Five Days’ community showcase was streamed over the weekend with a 70,000 peak concurrent viewership with members of the dev team talking about the design direction, vehicles, systems and more.

The footage showed off the game’s underwater lighting and rendering, as well as environmental adaptation system as you survive in various conditions. Honestly hard to believe the game is entering early access and isn’t the finished article at this point.

With new ecosystems, enhanced visuals and co-op for up to four players, Subnautica 2 is shaping up to be a very special gaming event indeed and launches into Early Access on May 14.
