Super Mario Odyssey to receive Luigi’s Balloon World DLC in February

Super Mario Odyssey will get a free update in February entitled Luigi’s Balloon World.

The update will be available to play after you beat the main story and will be a competitive based feature where you either hide or find balloons.

Once you’ve talked to Luigi in the game world, you can then go and hide a balloon anywhere in the kingdom within a 30 second window. And, as expected, you will also get 30 seconds to find the balloon which has been hidden by another player.

Interestingly, there will be global rankings and leaderboard, and you will be able to compete with others to earn coins and star-based bonuses. For instance, the number of balloons you’ve found, and the maximum amount you’ve found in a row, as well as the amount of times you’ve played. The Direct describes it as ‘objective-based speedrunning.’

In addition, there will be new outfits for Mario added in the update, including Sunshine Shades and Outfit Mario, Muscian Hat and Outfit Mario, and Knight Helmet and Armor Mario. On top of that, there will be new filters for Snapshot Mode, including a neon-lit aesthetic and a sole golden coin.

The Luigi’s Balloon World Super Mario Odyssey update will release sometime in February.
