Diablo 3 receives Necromancer class and Darkening of Tristram

At Blizzcon, Diablo was able to celebrate its 20th birthday in style with the announcement of a brand new class for Diablo 3 and a massive new patch that remakes the original game via The Darkening of Tristram.

Available via Diablo 3’s Public Test Realm next week, players will be able to experience the 16 floors of terror from Diablo’s original cathedral, remastered using the Diablo 3 engine and textures. Check out the glorious retrovision below.

In addition, a brand new class has been announced for Diablo 3 as part of a brand new expansion pack coming in 2017.

Adding in additional stash, character slots and cosmetic goodies, the Necromancer is only available to those who own Reaper of Souls and introduces a master of the black arts to the game.

A master that can make corpses explode.

This content will be available for both PC and console owners and players will also receive an in-game pet, as well as new portrait frame, pennant, banner and sigil.

The Necromancer is a reimagining of the Diablo 2 class, and while it won’t have all of the same skills there will be many similarities including Siphon Blood, Blood Rush and Summon Skeletons.

There will be a full-set of legendaries and set class items for the Necromancer, including a class-specific scythe.

A price point or release date hasn’t been released yet, though we can expect more details in the coming months.
