The witch with guns in her heels is coming back and Platinum Games have finally given us a few indications as to how the game will run on Wii U.
For starters, Bayonetta 2 will feature a two-player mode for the very first time. How this works is anyone’s guess, but it’s been announced by the chaps at Platinum during E3. Jeanne does feature in the game, but Platinum could not be pushed as to whether she will be Bayonetta’s co-op partner.
The game can also be fully played via the Wii U Touchscreen. Players can move by tapping where they want to go. Swipe up to jump. Enemies can be attacked when being tapped and repeat taps initiate combos. Swipe backwards to evade and to kick off Witch Time, swipe backwards just before being attacked. There’s also something called Umbra Complex which will be displayed on screen and can be tapped by the player.
The Umbra Climax allows players to use different beasts from within the game and this changes depending on the weapon Bayonetta is wielding.
Also, that long hair? Gone. Bayonetta is wielding a much shorter style in this game … and it works. Despite the lopping off of the locks, expect the crazy, hair-based violence you’ve come to expect from the franchise.
At a time where Nintendo is losing exclusives left and right, it seems Bayonetta 2 isn’t going anywhere but Wii U. Platinum have made it clear that without Nintendo, there would be no Bayonetta 2. They’re publishing and helping to fund development.
To get you in the mood, here’s the gameplay trailer that was shown yesterday during Nintendo Direct. The game is scheduled to hit in 2014, but we have no concrete information as to when.
