Next-gen is already set to change the way we play our games in a big way.
With the power of SmartGlass on Xbox One, Dead Rising 3 will actually be able to call your phone and provide you mission objectives..
Through an interview with Siliconera, Executive Producer Josh Bridge has revealed that the game will actually call your phone and verbally provide your mission objectives.
The game uses SmartGlass as a way to ‘skin your phone to be like the phone from the game’s universe’ and simulate a call. This will only be used for exclusive, bonus missions and will not be part of the game’s main campaign.
‘You’ll get calls from a character that is only on the SmartGlass device. So if you don’t have SmartGlass, you won’t get those calls from that guy. Which also means you won’t get those missions’.
However, the list of compatible devices for the SmartGlass app means that you probably won’t have too much about not having a supported device, and therefore no access to the missions.
Bridge does emphasise, however, that the Smartglass character’s story is his own and that the story ‘interweaves with the main storyline. Without it, you’re not losing out on what the story is. But you’re getting more out of the game.’
Other neat features will allow players to customise their ringtone, and, as indicated by the E3 presentation, users will also be able to call in airstrikes and military support through SmartGlass while playing the game.
Dead Rising 3 is an Xbox One launch title and will release in November.
