El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron IP Sold to the Game Director’s Company Crim

A statement on May 31, 2013 by Ignition, the now-Disney owned publisher of 2011’s visual stunning Biblical themed action game El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, revealed the purchase of the IP by Crim, a company headed by the game’s director, Takeyasu Sawaki.

Although Ignition retains the rights to sell the original game (which is on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3), Crim will have the rights to create prequels, sequels,  “and all other derivative rights.”

The statement says that Crim plans to develop a “potential El Shaddai business.” Crim is planning on celebrating the acquisition of the IP during an event in Tokyo on August 12, 2013. Here’s hoping for a sequel announcement and a western release! The franchise has already seen a new entry in a Japanese only social battle game, which was released in April of 2012, but only had active servers for a few months.
