Harry Potter’s textbook becomes feature film & video game

J.K Rowling isn’t done with the Harry Potter world just yet.

In a newly announced creative partnership with Warner Brothers Entertainment, Jo Rowling will write the script for a new film inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’

The story will follow the adventures of the book’s fictional author, Newt Scamander.

In a statement from WB..

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will be an original story and will mark Rowling’s screenwriting debut. It is planned as the first picture in a new film series. Set in the wizarding world, the story will feature magical creatures and characters, some of which will be familiar to devoted Harry Potter fans.

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the series.

The big news for us? A “Fantastic Beasts” game will also be developed by Warner Brothers Interactive. This will include a relationship with Pottermore.com,

The Studio’s expanded partnership with Rowling also covers the continued expansion of its Harry Potter activities, including Pottermore and future video games from the Harry Potter universe.
