Frozenbyte is so happy with recent success that they’ve got caught up talking about Trine 3.
Unfortunately, it seems they forgot all about a small Trine 2 promise they made to Wii U owners ahead of launch.
In a recent interview, Frozenbyte admitted they aren’t even thinking about Trine in 2013, and, instead, intending to move ahead with new intellectual property. In the interview with Gaming Bolt, the company had this to say…
‘We will be moving on to other IP as we feel this is the best way for us to grow as a company. 2013 will be quite a year for us and we aim to please with some cool announcements. As for the Trine franchise, it is clearly our most successful so far making a third instalment a no brainer. Having said that, we don’t want it to feel like Trine 2.5, but rather a large leap and something even more awe inspiring. So that might take a while.’
This, added with comments from a recent interview with Nintendo Life, suggest that Frozenbyte have forgotten all about the supposed exclusive Wii U DLC for Trine 2. Frozenbyte’s Mikael Haveri admitted in the interview that the Magic Mayhem DLC is ‘on the backburner’ and, for now, the developer is deciding whether to work on future DLC or focus on creating a new Trine game.
It’s disappointing to hear developers go back on their original promises, and certainly doesn’t cast them in a very good light. What are your thoughts on this situation?
