Pottermore coming to Playstation Home April 2013

Harry Potter’s online universe of Pottermore will attempt to do the impossible.

Bring Sony’s Playstation Home back to life.

Home is a free online social hub for Playstation 3 owners. When first announced, Sony touted it as a rival to Second Life and said it would revolutionize the entertainment world.

It…kinda…sorta…didn’t.

Frankly, Home never went anywhere despite Sony’s best efforts. Right now, it’s lacking a community and a key social feel that its competitors, Second Life and Habbo Hotel, have achieved with ease. Well, all of that might be about to change.

With Pottermore’s fan-base and charm, the franchise will be looking to congregate and expand what remains of Home’s community. While this might seem the worst idea in the history of ideas, the below trailer shows a social experience that will likely appeal to Harry Potter fans, as well as those into magic, mystery and enchantment.  For those willing to give it a go, the Hogwarts Express and Diagon Alley will be the two available areas. There will also be four mini-games to play, including duels and quizzes. The only requirements are a PSN ID and a Pottermore account and, let’s face it, who hasn’t got a Pottermore account?
