Rumours and speculation have brewed for years about this, but now Xbox Series S is official.
After a leak emerged late last night, Microsoft were quick to respond, and revealed a smaller, digital only, reduced spec equivalent of the Xbox Series X that will cost $299.
Those in the UK also won’t get had by conversion rates, as it will be £249 in those territories.
Codenamed Lockheart, Xbox Series S was always designed to be a cheaper bar for entry for the new generation but the aggressive price point has still surprised people this morning.
Update 08/09 Microsoft have confirmed the specs of the new console, and they are, as follows
- 1440p At Up To 120FPS
- DirectX Raytracing
- Variable Rate Shading
- Variable Refresh Rate
- Ultra Low Latency
- Custom 512GB SSD
- 4k Streaming Media Playback
- 4K Upscaling for Games
It will release November 10th, which also likely points to a similar timeframe from Xbox Series X. That is rumoured to cost $499.
The wait for all the dates and prices is almost over, it seems.
