In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Nintendo have indicated that the Happy Home Paradise DLC for Animal Crossing New Horizons will be the game’s first and last.
In a statement made to IGN, it appears that Nintendo have confirmed that this DLC will be the end of the game’s support. We knew free support was ending for the game this week, but many had speculated its future remained with paid expansions.
This is surprising as the game launched back in March of last year, and has gone on to sell near 33 million copies, becoming the biggest game in franchise history. Many had assumed it would continue to be supported for the long term.
Still, Happy Home Paradise seems incredibly generous and launches this week. It can be purchased seperately or claimed as part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack + and it lets players build a dream resort, adding new gameplay mechanics and experiences.
Are you picking up the final expansion? What do you think of Nintendo’s decision? Sound off below.
