In a somewhat surprising piece of news, Bethesda have released a free patch update for The Evil Within 2 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 which adds a First Person Mode.
Should you be brave enough, the entire game, from start to finish, will now be playable from a first-person view. You know, like that other horror game from Capcom which released last year.

The mode can be activated by simply ‘flipping a switch in the menu’ and you’ll be able to change it at any point.
Tango Gameworks producer, Shinsaku Ohara says.
‘A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience.’
This is a significant update for the game as hackers had previously played with the code to unlock a first person mode in the game at the tail-end of last year.
But it’s bigger than that. Why? Because this is the first telling step towards bringing Bethesda’s own horror experience to VR. All I’m saying is, between DOOM VFR, Fallout 4 and Skyrim VR recently, Bethesda are clearly all-in on this. So don’t be too surprised if we get a full announcement of The Evil Within 2 coming to VR in the near future. It almost makes far too much sense not to do it.
Either way, the update can be downloaded for free for those who own the game right now.
