Game Showcase: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound

We’re closing up the month with a new take on a classic franchise.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound follows the remaster of Ninja Gaiden 2 and comes out ahead of the brand new Ninja Gaiden 4 later this year.

Made by the creators of the excellent Blasphemous and published by the world class DotEmu, Ragebound is a side-scrolling 2.5D sidescroller with all the lore and gameplay you’d expect from the globally recognised franchise.

Following the story of Kenji Mozu, a young ninja from Ryu Hayabusa’s village, as the barrier between the human and demon worlds falls. Kenji has been trained by Ryu but after following a heavy defeat, taps into a forbidden power and unites with a clan they’ve had long shared animosity with.

With the brutal aesthetics of Ninja Gaiden and the classic, pick up and play 80s gameplay its inspired by, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound sees you control two powerful ninjas simultaneously and use a Ninja Fusion to unleash devastating power.

The game looks fantastic and it’s a great way to close out what’s been a surprisingly fantastic month. With an additional OST coming at launch and a physical edition launching later this year, you can pick up Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound wherever you play games.

And based on today’s review scores, it certainly seems worth it! Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound launches July 31 on PC, PS, Xbox and Switch.
