In long awaited news we’ve all wanted to hear, Legacy of Kain is coming back in a big way next month.
Crystal Dynamics are bringing back Legacy of Kain to PC and Consoles with a remaster of Legacy of Kain: Defiance and a brand new 2D platformer, Legacy of Kain: Ascendance.
Both releasing in March and announced during Sony’s State of Play, one sees the return of a beloved game and the other a highly desired, long awaited new entry in the franchise.
Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered brings back the 2003 original with new graphical improvements, modernised controls and bonus content. What’s more, those who pre-order will receive Kain and Raziel character skins inspired by the ‘Shifter’ concept.
The Remaster sees you play as both Kain and Raziel with two unique playstyles as they explore the dark fantasy world of Nosgoth. The game features striking Updated HD Visuals, such as improved textures and models, with the ability to switch betwen classic and remastered view anytime.
There’s an improved camera rebuilt for moden platforms and even bonus content such as a photo mode and unreleased content and lost levels.
What’s more, a Deluxe Edition includes a comic reader, a demo of Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy and the Shifter Skin Pack.
Meanwhile, a prequel to Soul Reaver, Legacy of Kain: Ascendance follows a new trend of bringing classic franchises to 2.5D Side-Scrolling Platformers. Recent franchises like Prince of Persia, Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden and just announced God of War have all taken a similar path to excellent results. Now Bit Bot Media and FreakZone Games are bringing back the classic voice acting cast while adding in exciting new story and mechanics.
You can chain melee moves, dash and pull off supernatural attacks with awesome 3D moments inspired by the PS1 era and coupled with anime styled cinmatics.
The game sees you play as three protagonists, Raziel, Kain, and the vampire, Elaleth, and brings back beloved voice acting talent like Michael Bell as Raziel and Simon Templeman as Kain, all complimented by a brand new, original score.
Both games can also be purchased together as part of a Heart of Darkness Collection, with Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered launching on March 3 and Legacy of Kain: Ascendance releasing on March 31 for PC, PS, Switch 1/2, and Xbox.
