During an interview with Expansive at Gamescom, Producer of Overkill’s The Walking Dead, Almir Listo, confirmed the game is canon with the comic books.
Almir went on to say.
So the game was originally based on the comic books but now it is part of the comic book universe.
Kirkman liked the characters, Heather, Maya, Aidan, and Grant so much that they have now been incorporated into the Walking Dead world which opens up many possibilities for the future of the game.
We’ve already seen the first signs of a crossover with Lucille added into the game as a weapon but when asked about the possibility of the characters meeting, Listo certainly seemed open to the idea.
It all depends on Robert. And on us. And the community … Because Robert said that the game was allowed to be canon, that meant we could explore the world in a different way. There’s potential for us to do anything in The Walking Dead universe.
I’m already lining up to get my Michonne DLC Pack so I can hack and slash through anything that moves.
