The Switch has had some incredibly impressive, well-designed ports of the biggest games.
The Witcher 3. DOOM. As well as Burnout Paradise and XCOM. This is not one of those ports.
Blair Witch hit Xbox and PS4 last year and we really quite enjoyed it. Even going as far as to say it’s one of the best horrors of the year.
It’s unsurprising really as it comes from the excellent Bloober Team who made Layers of Fear and Observer. The franchise was in good hands.
This port, however, is really rough. Textures are stretched, the environments aren’t fully populated. It’s pretty slow and sluggish.
And it is absolutely one of those games that actually plays better handheld than docked.
So, the game itself is pretty solid and it does a good job of capturing the essence of the Blair Witch games but you may be best playing it elsewhere unless you absolutely must have this in handheld.
Anyway, check this video for yourself. It’s thirty minutes docked and it gives you a good idea of the game’s opening and how it plays.
