Left 4 Dead 2 Steam Workshop Out of Beta

As of today, players will be able to download mods for Left 4 Dead 2 through the Steam Workshop.

The Left 2 Dead 2 blog confirmed that it would be coming out of beta and made available to all Steam users; campaigns, items, clothing and all kinds of mods will now be readily and easily available to download.

Content creators have been hard at work creating content for L4D2 but they have just gotten access to the new Workshop, so give them some time to upload their work. But with over 1,000 community campaigns and thousands more items and skins already created for the game, we should see many of these pop up in the Left 4 Dead 2 Workshop in the coming days and weeks (Note: Please don’t upload other people’s work. If a campaign you like isn’t in the Workshop, please nicely ask the creator to post it).

There are already plenty of interesting mods out there, including dinosaur skins, Brumark enemy and the Minecraft zombie models. Previously, to install a mod for Left 4 Dead 2, users would have to download various files and installers from different websites and sometimes edit internal documents. Adding in the Steam Workshop makes it all available for players in one place and allows for the mod community to grow with ease.

The only limitation is a 200mb file size cap. It is advised that when trying to upload above this limit, modders split the vpk individually with content  in each of the parts.
