All You Need To Know about God of War Ragnarok: Editions, DLC, and more

The long-awaited followup to Sony Santa Monica’s massive open-world norse adventure is almost here.

Atreus and his dad are ready to embark on another adventure and we’re all just along for the ride.

With launch looming near, here are all the main details you need to make your choice on how and where to play!

Formats

God of War Ragnarok is coming to PS4 and PS5.

Release Date

God of War Ragnarok launches November 9, 2022

Is this a followup to the 2018 God of War

While this is the ninth installment in the God of War franchise, it’s a direct sequel to Cory Barlog’s God of War. Three years have passed in-game since Kratos and Atreus’ original quest.

So is this in the Norse Saga?

Yes, it’s actually the finale!

Is Ragnarok actually going to happen?

Yes, the game sets up the sequence of events that lead up to it!

Will there be DLC?

Some. While there doesn’t seem to be a direct season pass or post-launch content announced, there are a host of pre-order pieces which we’ve broken down in this post.

If I own Ragnarok on PS4, can I play on PS5?

You can, but there is a cost attached to it. Unlike previous PlayStation titles, there’s no automatic free upgrade to the best version when switching between consoles. From now onwards, there will be an option to upgrade from disc or digital versions of the PS4 version of God of War Ragnarok to PS5 at the cost of £10/$10.
