In news no one saw coming and definitely not on Halloween, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is making a huge comeback.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting a Nintendo Switch 2 edition on January 15, 2o26, with a standalone version of the game releasing for Switch 2, or giving you the chance to upgrade your Switch 1 edition at a low price of £4.19.
And it sounds worth every penny with 12 player multiplayer in each town being added to the Switch 2 version if you all have a Switch Online Membership. You can also use GameChat and even use your Switch 2 camera if you have one.
Switch 2 Mouse Controls are also being added into the game, which makes it easier to decorate your home and edit in the Custom Designer on the NookPhone.
The Megaphone is also being added into the game, allowing you to call out to villagers using the in-built microphone. And, as you might expect, there’s an updated resolution between Switch 1 and Switch 2.
Meanwhile, a massive 3.0 update will be added to both Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions of the game on January 15, which includes crossovers with Zelda, Splatoon and even LEGO, letting you customise your home in unique ways.
Other key features are Resetti’s Reseting service that lets you remove unwanted items from your island, as well as a Resort Hotel being setup on the island where you can earn Hotel Tickets that can be used in Gram’s Souvenier Shop that has tons of unique items like NES and Switch 2 Consoles. You can even play games on them if you have a Switch Online Membership.
When you go to sleep, there’s a Dream World you can visit that you can decorate while you sleep and upgraded storage to up to 9,000 items.
It’s a massive, surrpise update and you can check out the full video above. Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launches January 15, 2026 along with a free 3.0 update.
