It was announced yesterday that Cyberpunk 2077 would experience a further delay until November 19th.
Interestingly, the Cyberpunk Twitter would later confirm that the game will be backwards compatible with both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
We are happy to confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 will be backwards compatible with both next-gen consoles! Your PS4 copy of the game will work on PS5 on launch day. Anyone who buys the game on Xbox One will be able to play their copy on Xbox Series X when the console launches too!

This means your PS4 copy of the game will work with PS5 on launch day, and those who purchase on Xbox One know that it supports Smart Delivery.
However, a further free update will be issued in 2021, which will take full advantage of next-generation hardware.
Also interesting to note, CD Projekt Red seem to be expecting Cyberpunk 2077 to be playable on PlayStation 5 on release day. This assumes the PS5 will either be releasing that same day – November 19th – or will have released beforehand. The same can also be assumed of the Xbox Series X.
Sony have yet to confirm a release date and price for the PlayStation 5. Neither have Microsoft for the Xbox Series X.
Either way, both systems just got a heck of a title for launch.
