Minecraft Legends – Tips, Tricks and other hints

Minecraft Legends releases tomorrow and with it comes a new era for the voxel block world.

With a focus on RTS, combined with that vintage building nature, this unique take is daring to do things a bit differently. In fact, it could be a little daunting and confusing at first.

Here’s a few things we learned while playing and they might just help you out too!

Keep checking Village Chests

Let’s start simple, but it’s perhaps the most important. As you save and protect villages in the game, so the villagers in turn will want to reward you. To do this, they deposit materials in village chests next to the fountain.

This will include everything from stone, wood, iron and other core ingredients you need to build all important structures.

And if you’re already carrying too much, don’t worry as it will be deposited back in the chest for collection at a later point.

Keep checking them intermittently throughout the campaign for bonuses to help top up your allocation as opposed to going searching for it in the wild world.

Speaking of exploring..

Visit the map top to bottom

In order to gain all the resources and learn all the important structures and things you can build in the game, you need to look everywhere.

From the savannas, meadows, peaks, and badlands, you can find important minerals needed to evolve your creations and find your next line of defense.

Once you’re in these regions, simply activate your mining abilities, hold LT and then tap RT at a spot where the resource can be found and it’ll essentially be discovered.

Beware of day and night cycles

The game has a progressive day and night cycle and it can spell serious trouble for all the villages around. By day, the Piglins will plot and pinpoint the next village they’re going to target, by night they strike.

To find out where the Piglins will attack next, pop open the map and look out for the village with the red arrows pointing towards it.

From there, you’re going to want to travel over – and if you’ve already visited you can just fast travel – and prepare some defenses to keep the Piglins away.

You should also know that just because you’re on the map or menus, the game will continue playing in the background, so don’t delay and make sure to protect those most in need.

Look out for the ? on the Legend

The map is also full of neat surprises and you can stumble upon them by setting a marker at a ? and visiting that area on the map.

These pop up all throughout the campaign and throw up some really unique surprises. Some that will really help in the nick of battle and some that are just really cool for a bit of show.

Regardless, don’t miss out on them. They help.

Visit the Homesteads

So while you can summon mighty golems to help you and form armies, if you help out others on the map, they will also join your cause.

From the Creepers, skeletons to zombies, these are really helpful allies and mix up your combat options when in the midst of war.

There’s even achievements for helping them out, so there’s no real reason not too.

Be wary of difficulty

The Green, Yellow and Red Markers around Piglin towers will give you a good idea of the challenge that awaits you.

And even if you are heading into Green, you may not have the right resources to your name or the right army to fight against the particular structure.

Take your time, pace yourself and don’t try to rush your way through or you’ll find yourself on the losing end of battle more often than not.

Finally…

Let your armies take some of the damage

Yes, you’re absolutely the star of the show, the hero, and should definitely be out there swinging your sword on horseback. But let your armies take some of the burden too.

As you get deeper in the campaign, you’ll be surprised by how hard your enemies hit and be left scrambling to safety as Piglins dive on top of you.

So position your armies tactically, section them off if you have to for a two-pronged approach, but don’t let yourself get on the receiving end of too many strikes or it’s back to the drawing board.
