A surprise, major update for To The Moon launched today, adding a small minisode to the game, completely free of charge.
The Holiday special has been in development at Freebird Games for over a month, and stars Dr.Watts and Dr.Rosalene.
The Steam version of the game is expected to be patched shortly, but for the time being, users will have to download the file from the studio’s website.
According to the blog post on the site, announcing the Minisode, the update is short and sweet, but perhaps indicates at the future direction of the series. A sequel to the game, A Bird Story, was announced in 2013 and is expected to release sometime in 2014.
“The minisode is just about 20 minutes long, and is meant to be played front-to-end in a little marathon, as there is no save feature (or menus, for that matter). It takes place around the holiday season, at the local branch of Sigmund Corp where Eva and Neil are employed,”
Freebird don’t know when A Bird Story will be finished, and gave us a good old fashioned iD Software ‘It will be finished when it’s ready.’ quote.
