The third instalment of the illustrious Runescape franchise has finally launched. The HTML 5 version of the MMORPG can be played from today. The HTML 5 version enables improved graphics, longer draw distances, new audio, and also makes the progression onto tablets much eaasier.
The title is a free to play affair and while it is still totally playable in browsers, it also boasts 3D graphics for the first time ever.
As part of the opening celebrations, developers Jagex have introduced an event called the Battle of Lumbridge. Whatever players do at this point will help structure and define the game at a later stage. Presumably, this event will be a significant moment in Runescape history and will be referred to regularly in future NPC conversations and actions.
Runescape 3 is also the first title in the series to be portable. The game will eventually be playable on a tablet and SmartTV.
The game will also offer a strong focus on user-generated content and has no set class system. Players can just play as they please.
Fancy a game? Of course you do!
