SEGA have released the first of their major content drops for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and it includes Sonic the Hedgehog!
SEGA had promised us something special today and that something seems to be their blue mascot as a playable character in their recent puzzler. Which is pretty awesome!
Sonic is one of four playable characters added in today’s free content update, and he’ll be joined by Lidelle, Ms. Accord, and Ocean Prince.
A new Boss Battle With Everyone Mode has also been added to the game, which sees you work together with three other players to defeat boss characters from the game using Skill Battle rules.
On top of that, new Item Cards and Background music have been added, including the ‘Tropical Resort’ theme from Sonic Colors. Here’s the full list below.

The update is free for all owners of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. Multiple updates are planned to release through 2021.
