Survival Kids is a Switch 2 exclusive, GameChat focused experience, available at launch

One of the games that may have snuck under the radar a bit during the Switch 2 launch lineup is actually an exclusive.

Survival Kids, a reimagining of the 1999 game, is confirmed to only release on Switch 2 and is a collaboration with Nintendo, Unity and Konami!

Now available to pre-order, this will launch on June 5 and is a co-op experience that uses the brand new GameChat as one of its core user experiences, lending itself to couch co-op, across devices or going online.

You can play offline with 2 player split screen or go online with up to four players. There’s even the option to have two players on one console who can then go online with two other players. Very cool! The aim being to create a social experience where you can chat together with people in the same room or around the world.

The aim of the game sees you play as a group of kids who are stranded on an island and only have a map at their disposal. It’s up to you to help them find all the secrets through puzzle solving, challenges and crafting.

Originally a Game Boy Color game, the experience has been reimagined on Nintendo Switch 2 with a much more modern twist and spin and a real focus on multiplayer. Interestingly, it’s also the first time Unity has designed and developed a game with a publisher partner, which adds an even more intriguing layer to the project.

Obviously Mario Kart and Donkey Kong got all the headlines, as well as the likes of Cyberpunk 2077, Duskbloods, and Elden Ring, but this seems like a great way to test out the brand new fuctionality of the console, while also having a fun multiplayer experience out of the gate on launch.

Survival Kids launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.
